A professor of Geography and Resource Development and head of the Remote Sensing and GIS Laboratory at the Department of Geography and Resource Development, University of Ghana. Prof Yankson holds a PhD in Regional Planning from the University of Nottingham, U.K. He specialized in Urban, Regional Planning and rural poverty. Prof Yankson has undertaken more than 25 baseline and rural development research in the area of poverty alleviation, socio-economic livelihoods, urban planning and human dimensions of the environment. His publications include more than 12 books and monographs, contributed to more than 18 chapters in books and conference proceedings and more than 30 articles in referred journals. Organizations he has consulted for include but not limited to; the Environmental Protection Council, UNDP, Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology, Accra Metropolitan Assembly. Prof. Yankson has contributed to a number of policy think-tanks. He currently has four research projects covering small-scale gold mining, youth employment, urbanization and poverty in mining Africa and the social and political impacts of South-South migration. His position in this project would be a Social Scientist and also double as Assistant Team Leader.
